Web Hosting
Confused about hosting? What do those specifications actually mean? Well, your about to find out!
Control Panel [cPanel]
You are given the premium cPanel control panel, which is included in all web hosting packages for free. This is the best control panel around, if you would like a demo account, on our server, go to:

Username:cdkdemo
Password:password
Web space [Hard Drive|HD] - The amount of space you are allocated on the server, if you are given 1GB of webspace, it means you can fill up that space with your files. Its just like your computer, it has a limited amount of space for your files, its the same with hosting.
Data Transfer [Bandwidth|B/W] - This is the amount of data, or files you are allowed to transfer on the server. If you have got a web page, it will take up a certain amount of space on the server, whenever someone visits that page, they have to download it to their computer, and view it through thier web browser. This is what we call, surfing the internet. Now, lets say your homepage takes up 5KB, whenever someone visits your page, it will use up 5KB of your bandwidth. Your bandwidth is used whenever someone visits, or downloads a page or file from your website. If you have 100 page views of your homepage, that is 500KB of your bandwidth used. Picture files are normally around 100KB for small sizes, if you have a 100KB picture on your homepage, a visitor will download it every time they visit your homepage, so 100 page views, = 10MB of your bandwidth for that picture.
Scripts? [Fantastico] -
We mention hundreds of scripts, but how do you use them, or install them? Well, our servers come with a 1 click solution. Fantastico, this is a piece of software, years in the making, which allows you to install hundreds of scripts in a few clicks. There are forums, Content Management Systems, Photo Galleries, Support Systems, Auction websites, E-Commerce (Online shopping) Click here for a list of all the scripts available.
MySQL Databases -
What are these databases, are they hard to use? My anwswer, no. Fantastico will create a MySQL database according to the script you use. We have PHP MyAdmin, which enables direct access to the databases, unless you are an advanced user/scripter, you will never have to look at your MySQL Databases, most scripts will just tell you to enter the name of a database, which you can create in a few clicks, and the script will do all the complicated stuff for you.
FTP Accounts [File Transfer Protocol] -
Your advanced control panel is capible of FTP upload. Instead of using the web browser to upload your files, you may want to use FTP. Using the web browser, you can upload 1 file at a time, with FTP, you will be able to 'drag and drop' entire folders onto a server. To do this, you need a login, which you are able to create in your control panel.
Mail Accounts - Your cPanel is capible of creating your very own mail accounts, coresponding to your domain, things like yourname@yourdomain.com. You can configure it to work with your own mail clients, such as Microsoft Outlook Express. Or you can use the online mail browsers.
Sub-domains - You can create subdomains to your domain, for example yoursub.yourdomain.com. You can make any subdomain you want to. They are easy to create in a few clicks.
Mailing Lists - If you run a fan club, or news group, or any type for site which reguires emails to be sent our to subscribers, you can use the Mailing List function. Just enter in the email addresses you want, then you will be able to create and send one email, and it will go to every single person on the list.
Parked/Addon Domains - When you park a domain, you are configuring it to work with your account. You change the 'Name Servers' - the option should be available with your domain registrar, then click Park Domains, and it will make it work with your account, like http://www.parkeddomain.com/stories/story1.html will me the same as http://www.yourdomain.com/stories/story1.html. An addon domain will park a domain at an account, but then it will then configure it to go to a certain folder. For example : http://www.addondomain.com/stories/story2.html will be the same as
http://www.yourdomain.com/addondomain.com/stories/story2.html. It will also create its own FTP account.
